My Grandmother's daughter follows the story of a girl called Simbai, who by virtue of her life circumstances, ends up being mothered by her grandmother. The story is set in rural Zimbabwe and follows Simbai's growth and her life lessons up to graduation at university. Simbai attributes most of her success, positive outlook and great problem-solving skills to her maternal grandmother, Gorega. Simbai compares Gorega to a crystal clear mountain river which washed over her soul to build her character.
